Translating world-class research into a language everyone understands.

HOW WE CREATED A NEW WAY TO DIGEST ACADEMIC RESEARCH:
︎ Academic research is often hard for people to understand.
︎ Research You Can Eat is a series of events for the University of Melbourne.
︎ Highest-rated engagement for potential students at Open Days, increasing likeliness of enrolment by over 54%.
︎Adapted by TEDx to accompany their Ideas Worth Spreading talks.

1] THE EMPTY BOWL:
︎University of Melbourne develops biofortified rice to combat malnutrition.
︎We served rice puddings into bowls that revealed the story the more you ate.
︎Over 10 000 bowls served, spreading world-class research one bowl at a time.

2] NOW OR LATER COCKTAIL:
︎University of Melbourne discovers research into impulsivity and its effects on our lifestyle choices.
︎We created a cocktail that changed colour, the longer you differed drinking it—creating a real-time impulsivity test.
︎We got many academics and researchers drunk, and talking work.

3] 1000 HAPPY BIRTHDAYS:
︎University of Melbourne breakthroughs save over 1000 babies before they are born every year.
︎ We created 1000 baby-sized cakes to celebrate the lives made possible by research.
︎Our hardworking baker slept for 1000 years after the event.
